About Us

LCD FAB was established in January 2008 by former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship fabricator and crew member Jonathan DaCosta. We’re located in the heart of the racing industry in Concord, North Carolina.

We’re a karting-focused – but certainly not limited – fabrication outfit specializing in the construction of aluminum, steel, and stainless steel parts for kart racing. A few of our top-selling products include our LCD valve, aluminum fuel tanks, and various types of prep stands. Be sure to contact us  with inquiries about your potential custom orders and needs.

While only an official business since early 2008, LCD Fab – specifically Jonathan DaCosta – has over 15 years experience in the fabricating trade. For a comprehensive outline of DaCosta’s career in motorsports, be sure to read his bio, which can be found below.

From the bullrings to the big time, DaCosta has had quite the career

Jonathan DaCosta is a native of Lehighton, Pennsylvania, who has dedicated his life to his love and passion for auto racing. His talents as a welder and fabricator coupled with an extremely strong work ethic have allowed DaCosta to make a living in racing as a NASCAR team member and entrepreneur. But like many who work in the sport’s elite levels, it’s been an uphill climb for Jonathan that began at the bottom.

The 35-year-old DaCosta credits his father, John, for introducing him to the sport. In his teenage years, DaCosta followed in his father’s footsteps by racing go-karts at ovals and road courses throughout eastern half of the country. A feature winner at regional and state levels, DaCosta continues to compete at the WKA national level with his son, Luke.

DaCosta’s introduction to the world of stock-car racing came at Mahoning Valley Speedway – a quarter-mile asphalt bullring in eastern Pa., where in 1993 he began crewing on late model stock cars. DaCosta continued to “cut his teeth” working on cars at Mahoning Valley and other Northeast speedways, essentially laying the groundwork for his future career.

The coming years would see the Pennsylvania native begin to build a solid resume in the sport. While maintaining a full-time job in which he’d work for hours-on-end Monday through midweek so he could get in 40 hours and go racing on the weekends, DaCosta advanced to the upper echelons of the sport in the Northern half of the country. His efforts led him to positions as a crew chief for teams in the Camping World East Series (then Busch North) and ARCA, while being a mainstay in the garage hanging and finishing bodies and fabricating many parts for the racecars.

DaCosta moved south in the early 2000s, relocating to the Charlotte, N.C., area to continue his pursuit of a career in motorsports. The years following his move to the Tar Heel State would cement DaCosta’s status as one of the top fabricators in NASCAR.

DaCosta a member of not 1, but 2 championship Cup Series teams

One of the thrills of DaCosta’s life came in 2003 when Matt Kenseth won the Cup championship. As a member of the championship team, Jonathan experienced the opportunity of a lifetime when he and the rest of Roush’s first Cup championship team traveled to New York City for NASCAR’s year-end awards banquet. He and the rest of the Roush team stayed at the Waldorf Astoria, something DaCosta says he’ll never forget.

Many NASCAR team members work their entire careers to say they’ve been a part of a Cup championship team – and a fair amount can say they’ve accomplished that goal. But there aren’t too many people that can say they’ve been a member of two championship teams at two different organizations. Jonathan DaCosta can proclaim exactly that.

When Hendrick Motorsports hired DaCosta in 2006, he entered one of the best situations in NASCAR. DaCosta began hanging bodies for Hendrick’s cars, driven by a few of the best racers in America. One of those top racers was Jimmie Johnson, whose No. 48 cars’ bodies were built by DaCosta. The scenario featured one of the best fabricators in NASCAR hanging and finishing bodies for one of the sport’s all-time best driver-crew chief combinations (Johnson and Chad Knaus). It resulted in another trip to New York for DaCosta, this time in 2007 as a member of the No. 48 Sprint Cup championship team.
